Yeaaah brothers! I definitely needed to see my homies from home. Even if we none of us live at home any more. These are some of the funniest ladies you will ever meet, and guess what? They're my friends. Hella!

K.Mau requested the leaf headband I made, and you know what? I can just make another one if I feel like wearing it. Hehehehe. When I was in pot(tery) class in hs, I gave every single pot I made to my friends and family. I have none left, but one candle stick and one U2 bookend. Pretty much, I like to make rad stuff and give it away.

I have more new stuff to come... promise.

Uninspired

Sorry folks, I got nothin.
Hopefully will add some new pics soon -- I have a few things to show you.
I am dragging my feet on some projects and generally feeling uninspired.
I would love if you emailed/commented me some ideas.
Also, can you believe it? Brooke's scarf fell out of the packaging in the mail and her sister got an empty package. Poor girl!!! I think some sneaky postal service worker just wanted an awesome, hand-knit scarf.
Another LOST day Wed and Sat so hopefully I will have something fun and new soon. I need inspiration!!!

Guest Crafter: Brooke!!!

Well yellow, ladies and gents!

As you may or may not know, I have been engaging in marathon crafting sessions lately with my good friend, Brooke. We are trying to watch every episode of Lost before the new season airs!

Normally Brooke scrapbooks, but last Lost marathon day, she made a surprise scarf for someone (ssssh!!).

How freaking pretty is that scarf??? I normally am not drawn to pure green colors (any loyal readers will know I am obsessed with aqua/teal/dark blue-greens), but I think this yarn knit came out so rich and beautiful. I love the white stripes with the green, which make me think of knee socks for soccer or rugby style shirts. I would like to learn how to knit one day, but until then, readerzerz, enjoy the beautiful knitted scarf d'Brooke!!!

Reader of the Month: Rachel!!!

It's that time of month, Teabeans-ers! It's time to celebrate our Reader of the Month, January. So let's all pop our champagne bottles for Rachel!

Rachel recently came home to the NYC to visit (from her new home in N.C.). I rallied from the ongoing saga that is my sinus infection to grab pizze at Grimaldi's in the BK with her and her fabo hubbie. (I mean... I love these people. Trust me... I did not even rally to see my own family the next day. They are hilarious, fun, super hip, totally rad, and I think it's been 2 years since I've seen them.) Anywhooooo it was immediately evident from Rachel's many random and specific references to my blog (the actual content, not just the pics) that she was the Jan 2010 Reader of the Month.

So give her a high-five, yos. She is awesome. Above is a pic of me, Rachel, and Jimmy at Pearl Jam in Cameden 2006. Oh the memories!!! I might need to start a petition for Bob & Rachel to move back!

Home Decor; Teabeans Style

Hiyoo! This Christmas I got a super unique and thoughtful giftie from my daddy-o (as usual!): a vintage crochet pattern pamphlet called Style in Crochet. It's from 1936 (Book 73, 10 cents at the time!) and actually has some cute stuff in it! I would love to get ambitious and make one of the sweaters or dresses.

Until then, I matted the cover and hung it in my kitchen with another awesome vintage ad from my mom! Like I said, the crochet pamphlet is from 1936. The ad is for Wurlitzer jukeboxes and is celebrating New Year's 1948.

Now Iron Martin and I can eat our pizze and get our vintage on in the nook! I like to crochet... and I like to party... now all I need is an old ad or magazine about running, and we got all my hobbies and interests covered!

I was on forced hiatus. Here are the details in a nutshell: horrible horrible horrible sinus infection. Basically immobile for 2.5 weeks. Even now I am sooo exhausted. But enough about that! On to the crochet!

Happy new year! Who's turning a new leaf this year? Yeh get your resolution on with this new Teabeans leaf headband.

Here is a view from the front:

The leaves were easy to do: Ch 16, slst in 2nd ch from hook then *sc, hdc, 2dc, 4tc, 2dc, hdc, sc, slst* on one side and turn work over and repeat from *. Then I sewed them together and hot-glued to a headband.

In 2010, I plan on

-Answering my phone at work (I screen cold-calling salesmen)

Snowflake Holiday Slouch Beanie Pattern

Hooks:

6MM/J10

5MM/H8

Yarn:

1 Skein Red Heart Holiday Red/Red (Worsted/Medium)

1 Skein Red Heart White

Using J10 hook and red yarn, start a typical beanie:

Row 1: In adjustable loop, make 9 hdch, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (9 hdch)

Row 2: 2hdch in each ch around, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (18 hdch)

Row 3: *1 hdch in ch, 2hdch in next ch* around, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (27 hdch)

Row 4: *2 hdch in ch, 2hdch in next ch* around, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (36 hdch)

Row 5: *3 hdch in ch, 2hdch in next ch* around, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (45 hdch)

Row 6: *4 hdch in ch, 2hdch in next ch* around, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (54 hdch)

Row 7: *5 hdch in ch, 2hdch in next ch* around, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (63 hdch)

Row 8: *6 hdch in ch, 2hdch in next ch* around, slst in first hdch, ch1, turn. (72 hdch)

Next rows will be 72 hdch and will incorporate snowflake pattern. I used the grid from this knitting pattern. In row 9, I did 10 hdch before starting in with the white. I tied in the white for the first hdch and I kept the white yarn attached to the work on the wrong side, and as I skipped chs for the red hdchs, I would crochet over the unworked white. I suppose you could cut off the white and red, but I hate weaving in the ends. Once the snowflake is finished, I did 2 rows of red.

Switch to H8 hook and white yarn.

Next row: 1 Row of white hdch. Add in 2 hdch evenly spaced for total of 74 hdch.

Remaining rows: *2 fpdc, 1 bpdc* around. Do as many rows until you reach desired length.
