Happy Halloween!!!

I hope everyone has a scary fun Halloween! I had the best time at my mega-exclusive private party. Only Iron Martin and Mr. Kitten were invited. It was a blast! We had jack-o-lantern faces cut into the cheese of our cheeseburgers, treats, goblin goblets, and costumes! Then we watched Night of the Living Dead. We even listened to scary music in the background while we ate our dinner! All-in-all it was mo awesome Halloween party.

Here is a pic of Mr. K dressed up as Nibbler from Futurama. He loved it.... hehehe.
Happy Punkin Day!

Blog Nobbin'

I was flipping around some blogs, and was scanning thru The Owls Are Not What They Seem, when I came upon this post:My my but does that look like my bow headband!
Well, wouldn't you know it! Her inspiration was my inspiration:

The Owls are Not What They Seem bow is actually knit. How rare for me to see someone trying to get a crochet pattern to work for knitting! It's usually the other way around.

Crocheting and blogging are fun.

Last Night

FOTO OPP. That is all I have to say about this pic. What does this have to do with crochet?? Well, what you cannot see is the lounge chair and ottoman to the right of this desk chair, where I was seated, crocheting a hat. My yarn was sprawled on the ottoman. Kitten has been exceedingly mischievous with this yarn because I suspect he knows it was exceedingly expensive. In order to be next to me, he snuck on the chair, and he is actually lying on a different crocheted hat. Inside the kitty bag is some other yarn and half-finished mittens.

Thusly, in addition to being ridiculously cute; this pic also has a lot to do with crochet. See a more complete view here.

Mindy Crocheted Slouchy Beanie

Mindy is one of my very closest friends since high school. How lucky am I to have such a mega amazing friend for over a decade??! She requested a brown slouchy beanie, and of course I was all over that! I was going to post this pattern since it is a TeaBeans original, but of course, it was another spontaneous invention; and now, a one-of-a-kind. Here is a close-up shot of the pattern:Mindy says, "My sister Deb is WAY jealous and wants one of her own." Aaah... scrapbook memories of Deb wishing she had a TeaBeans beanie!

Bahaha!!

Hope you all are having a great start to your week!

Happy Weekend!

Who's ready for winter??

I feel like I have not been posting that much lately! I have officially been discharged from physical therapy, and I can officially run again! For those of you who may not know, I was injured before I ran the Pittsburgh marathon, but I ran it anyways. I ended up further injuring my foot. I have not been able to walk or run or even wear normal shoes since May 5th. Now that I am getting better, I have been working out 6 days a week, and squeezing in a social life. I promise to have some new stuff this week; maybe even tomorrow!!

In the meantime, enjoy this picture of Iron Martin and I from last winter. Both of us are wearing TeaBeans! I am excited for snuggling in my cozy nook with Iron Martin and Mr. Kitten and making a load of fun accessories this winter!

What are you excited for this winter??

123 What The?

So I got a book in the mail today, which I immediately knew would be a crochet book because it came from the company from which I had ordered my cardigan crochet book. They enclosed a bill for like $30 bucks for this book "I ordered" called 123 Skein Crochet. Learn more about it, and buy it on Amazon here... for $13.57!

Dudes, can I just say, I have a really bad memory, but I totally did NOT order this book. I mean, I know I kind of black out sometimes and wake up buried in Etsy goodies and sale Anthropologie accessories, but I KNOW I did not order this shiz.

(Side note: I just said to my cat, "baby it's so hard to crochet with you laying here." To which, Iron Martin said, "you aren't even crocheting! Stop saying that." So, I guess that speaks pretty negatively to my credibility and reliability as a narrator.)

Anywhooooooooooo, MOVING ON, let's just ignore that side note. I shall close by saying: I am keeping this book. And I am not paying for it. Thanks White Birch, or whoever, for sending me this and thinking I am some poor, forgetful, old lady who crochets afghans all day and is easily conned. I am not. And if you come after me for my book/money (as Iron Martin aptly noted, they know where I live), I will have already made fabulous items from the patterns enclosed within 123 Skein Crochet... (like I even know what that means. I mean, doesn't all yarn come in skeins? 123 what the h?)
That is my story. And I am sticking to it. Slash, if they send me another bill I will probably definitely pay it.

No One's Rival Crochet Hat

Oh yeh buddies I am getting into the new PJ album. Nothing is like walking the streets in NYC in autumn, rocking to PJ and rocking a new hat. I did just that today on my way to GottaKnit to pick up some yarn-age.
I made this hat on my flight to San Diego last week. What can I say? I love cute hats, and I love yellow hats and blue hats. At first I was scared of mixing colors, particularly these colors, but I am loving it! I am also making matching gloves. I made up the pattern, hence the hat's name. Below is a close-up. I will also try to post this pattern, because I think I wrote most of it down. The central pattern is (4 dch cluster - ch 1 - 4dch cluster - ch 1 - fpdc - ch 1). I think it looks real cool, and I hope you do too!

Meowzers!

Mental note: Make felted cat hat for cat.
More cute Mr. & Mrs. Kittens here!

Crocheted Baby Soaker

Love you all who commented/emailed/facebooked with guesses about my What Is post! Casey wins! It is a crocheted baby soaker.

I cannot take any credit for this pattern or project idea at all so I might as well shy away from any cleverness that might confuse you into thinking this is entirely a TeaBeans original.

Recently my sister-in-law requested a "woolie," which is a cover to wear over cloth diapers to soak excess, um, yeah. I got the pattern from my sis-n-l, which she found at With a Tangled Skein. I made this soaker in size Medium. I felt her pattern was a little off when it came to the decreases in row 18/22/26 (any row with a dec). Unless I misunderstood the instructions, I always ended with more stitches than the pattern indicated at the end of a decrease row. I assumed the number of sitches was correct, and I added decreases to acheive that number.

Anywhooooo, this project was very easy, and it only took two days. I used EXACTLY 2 skeins of Lion Brand Jiffy Yarn in #325 El Paso.

I also resisted the urge to put this on my cat [not sanitary], but unfortunately, could not resist the urge to put it on my head [of questionable sanitation].

Hopefully pics to come when this fits my adorable niece's bottom! Just an FYI, she is the most adorable baby EVER.

California Dreaming

What have I been up to???

If you guessed hanging out on a beach in Cali, posing like Zooey Deschanel... Then you would be right.

And oh how lucky I am that Iron Martin says, "which one is Zooey and which is you??" when I am photoshopping away. Sadly, that comment was followed by: "no, really, I don't have my glasses on."

Hehehehe. I have no shame.
